South Vancouver

South Vancouver, BC

Vancouver South is a collection of a few of the city’s older neighbourhoods and includes some of the most prestigious properties.

To the west, Dunbar is a quiet, park-like residential neighbourhood, lined by large old trees, with tranquil parks and the McCleery Golf Course. There are some commercial buildings to support the community’s needs. It’s also home to the community of Southlands, where you’ll find upscale mansions and horse properties.

Three bridges and the Canada Line public transit crossing of the Fraser River make Marpole the bustling gateway to Downtown, routing traffic from the south and Vancouver International Airport. It is one of Vancouver’s oldest residential communities. A new Marpole Community Plan has been drawn up and Marpole is positioning itself for additional affordable housing.

Sunset is an ethnically diverse neighbourhood that has gained popularity in recent years with young professionals and families as housing prices in other areas of Vancouver have increased.

There are eight parks in the Victoria-Fraserview area., and several walking trails along the Fraser River. It’s a neighbourhood made up mostly of single-family residences and townhomes, with commercial property focused around Victoria Drive. Also a multiculturally diverse area, it has a large Indo-Canadian population.

Killarney borders Burnaby, in the southeastern corner of the city. Although primarily single-family residential, there are some multi-family homes and even a few high-rise buildings. Retail services and amenities are within walking distance in Champlain Heights, a Killarney neighbourhood made up mostly of townhouse and co-op housing complexes.

Also bordering Burnaby, Renfrew-Collingwood is a large neighbourhood. There is a strong business community, distributed over several pockets. Over the past two decades it has become one of the fastest-growing residential areas in Vancouver, following the construction of three SkyTrain stations. The tranquil wooded area around Still Creek has been preserved as Renfrew Ravine Park.
